Yann Guyader and the Powerslide Alessi mens team win the Swiss Inline Cup 2008
The race started at 6.00 p.m with a fresh weather and all teams showed up for the last SIC race 2008.
Right from the beginning of the race, some teams started to escape but the teams from Powerslide/Alessi and Rollerblade always managed to catch them. The Powerslide Phuzion team also attacked a lot, but with just 36 km the race was too short and the speed too high which made it impossible to be successful. So everybody prepared for the final sprint. In the last lap, 4 km to go, Powerslide Phuzion started to lead the pack with Kwinten Tas doing the first part of the job. Then, 2 km to go, Pascal Ramali took the lead to make the last effort and let Nicolas and Felix in a good position for the sprint in the tricky circuit. Nobody was able to pass in all the lap because the high speed of the pack till 800 mts to the finish when Powerslide Alessi attacked with Mantia and Presti behind them. The race was won by Joey Mantia, a specialist in that kind of sprints, and really close was Yann Guyader followed by his teammates Fabio Francolini and Stefano Galliazzo. Matteo Amabili got 6th and 7th was DJ Nation (Matter/Inlinecenter). Finally, Nicolas Zamudio and Felix Rijhnen from Powerslide Phuzion captured place 8 and 9. It was a really god weekend for the Powerslide family with with seven skaters in the top 10. The woman race was won by Alexandra Vivas (Bont) in a really close finish with Giovanna Tucharelli (Powerslide/Alessi) who still suffers from a knee injury. The race was tactical like always and everybody was waiting for the final sprint as well like in the men´s race. Britanny Bowe was third. Yann Guyader is the new champion of the Swiss Inline Cup 2008 and the Powerslide Alessi team won the overall ranking as well. Cecilia Baena is the new SIC champion in the womans category. Bont won the overall ranking followed by Powerslide Alessi. The next race will take part in Berlin with the X race WIC C1 in the last week of August. 13 Aug 2008,

by JP Laineck Lions vs. Powerslide Dentist
The 2008 USARS Indoor National Championships has come and gone. The best skaters from across the country came to Lincoln Nebraska primed and ready to compete at the highest level.
The Pro division proved to be as exciting as ever with records fallings in every race. Powerslide/Matter team member William Bowen started off the Pro Men’s division by breaking the 100m time trial record not once but twice. This would set up Bowen with a strong 30 points after just one race, Carey and Garcia would pick up the Silver and Bronze in the 100m. Next up was the 1500m Pro Races. This time Matter/Powerslide would show pure dominance again in the Men and Women’s divisions. Emily Scott started things off in the Women’s division by sprinting her way to a 1500m Gold medal. The guy’s race would not be so simple. As we have seen building over the course of this season the 1500m final would see 6 of the fastest Pro men in the country. On the way to the final Justin Stelly would shatter the record once held by Joey Mantia. In the Pro men’s final we saw what we have come accustomed to seeing in these races all year long as pushing, shoving, and blocking led to a fast and out of control race. In the end it was Matter/Powerslide duo of Stelly and Bowen going one two accordingly showing speed does still win races. Next up would be the 500m races for the Pros. These races were fast from the gun and Stelly would shatter yet another Mantia record skating the fastest 5 lap time ever at the Indoor National Championship at 43.55 seconds. The final would be similar to the 1500m final with falls and disqualifications throughout the race. Once again true speed prevailed with William Bowen taking his second gold medal of the Championship. Carey and Stelly would take the silver and bronze. Sara Sayasane would take the Pro Ladies race with Emily Scott in tow. So after 3 of 4 Pro races the ladies were close as Sayasane led the way for the ladies with 80 points while Scott gave chase with 55 points. In the Pro men’s division it was Matter/Powerslide 1 and 2 with William Bowen having wrapped up the National Championship with 80 points. Third place belonged to Ben Carey (Who was also on Matter Wheels in case you were wondering). Going into the last race of the Pro division the Men’s overall podium spots were all locked up with the second and third spots still up in the air between Stelly and Carey. Before the start of the Pro finals donations began pouring in for the races making the stakes a little higher. With over 1200 dollars on the line for the Pro ladies Briana Kramer showed why the long races are her specialty. Kramer would take the lead of the 50 lap races with close to 45 laps remaining. Kramer would lead the way for 42 laps killing off competitors one by one until only three remained. With 3 laps remaining Emily Scott would make her move skating to her second Pro Gold of the Championship while Kramer would take the silver and Sayasane would capture the bronze in a great race. The Powerslide/Matter ladies showed how teamwork can be accomplished without disgracing the sport or there team by simply coming with a proper strategy let it be known Sayasane skated a great 5000m as well. Next would be the final individual event of the Championship. You just knew we were going to be in for some drama as we have seen many times this year when skaters and sponsors get desperate for something positive at a meet. As skaters began to settle in for the money race jockeying for position began. Somewhere around 15 laps into the race Cheeks would attack as only he does. As he began to gap the pack Stelly went to reel him in but was met with blocks and elbows. As he attempted to get past the opponents on two consecutive straightaways he was forced wide almost into the skater ready area. This would lead to Stelly being disqualified from the event. The crowd seemed to take over at this moment as the auditorium was engulfed with Boos and calls for a re-run. The race continued as only 6 skaters remained after this point. Dane Lewis would then be thrown to the wolves as Stelly was and would run into blocking, elbows and attempts take him out of the race. After all was said and done Cheeks would come away for his first medal of the competition and the crowd would leave disgraced and upset with the outcome of the race. After all said and done the Pro division would finish accordingly overall. Congrats go out to Sayasane and Bowen, as I am pretty sure these are both Skaters first Pro titles. Pro Ladies 1st place – Sara Sayasane – MPC 2nd Place – Emily Scott – Matter Powerslide 3rd Place – Mariah Richardson Pro Men 1st Place – William Bowen – Matter Powerslide 2nd Place – Justin Stelly – Matter Powerslide 3rd Place Ben Carey – Frenchtown Outside of the Pro division there was some great racing. In the Elementary boys division Justin Sterling was very dominant. Freshmen Boys was won by Bryan Kubota who was flying as usual, while Alyssa Franklin showed her power as she successfully defended her title making it back-to-back freshmen girl’s titles. Blair’s dominated both the Classic and sophomore divisions smashing records on the way. Kimani Griffin showed his dominance winning every heat, semi, and final on his way to a successful back to back title run as well as some record breaking races in the Junior men’s division. Good luck to all Team USA members heading to residency in a couple of weeks. Also stay on the lookout for the all-new Matter Lethal coming to a team near you. 24 Jul 2008,
